These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Novara (operated by Astadio), including the website, author dashboard, reader store, and all related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility & Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Please notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorised access.

2. Author Accounts & Content

2.1 Your Content

Authors retain full ownership of all original content they upload or create on the Service ("Author Content"). By publishing content on Novara, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, distribute, and deliver that content to readers through the Service solely for the purpose of operating the platform.

2.2 Content Standards

You agree not to upload or publish content that:

• Infringes any third-party intellectual property rights.
• Is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or harmful.
• Contains malware, spam, or deceptive material.
• Violates any applicable law or regulation.

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these standards at our sole discretion, without prior notice.

2.3 AI-Generated Content

The Service includes AI-assisted writing and editing tools. You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying any AI-generated content before publishing. Novara makes no warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of AI-generated output.

3. Purchases & Payments

3.1 Reader Purchases

Readers may purchase digital books directly from individual author stores. All prices are displayed in the applicable currency. Purchases are final and non-refundable unless the content is materially different from its description or otherwise required by law.

3.2 Author Payouts

Authors receive royalties from book sales in accordance with the payout terms set out in the Novara Author Programme. Payouts are subject to the applicable platform fee and payment processor fees. We reserve the right to withhold payments if we reasonably suspect fraud or a breach of these Terms.

3.3 Taxes

You are responsible for determining and remitting any applicable taxes on income earned through the Service. Novara is not responsible for calculating or collecting taxes on your behalf.

4. Intellectual Property

All rights in the Service — including its design, software, trademarks, logos, and platform content (excluding Author Content) — are owned by Novara or its licensors. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership rights to you. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

5. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its related systems.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any portion of the Service.
• Scrape, harvest, or collect data from the Service without written permission.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
• Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely represent your affiliation with any person or entity.

6. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Novara and its affiliates, officers, employees, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses — arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
